Travel: South Korea - Day 1 (Jeju Island, Seongsan Ilchubong "Sunrise Peak")

After spending a night at the airport to wait for our next destination Jeju Island. We took the first commuter train AREX airport rail service at B1 level of Transportation Centre to transfer to Gimpo International Airport for our 8:05am flight to Jeju Island.

We had our early lunch at Jeju International Airport cafeteria and our first authentic korean food.

~ Jeju Island ~

* Jeju Island has received three distinct UNESCO certifications; it was designated asa Biosphere Reserve in 2002, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2007, and a Global Geopark in 2010. The Island is also one of the official finalists of the worldwide "New7Wonders of Nature".

Also, Jeju people call them "Islands of the Island" because number of small islands are situated next to the main island of Jeju that attracts visitors because of its different and unique scenic beauty.

We took a taxi going to December Hotel (more or less 15 mins drive from the airport) to leave our luggages and go to our first destination, Seongsan Ilchulbong Peak.

At Jeju Intercity Bus Terminal,

Take a direct bus (Dongilju bus bound to Seongsan) and

get off at Seongsalliipgu bus stop. (Travel Time : 2 hours)

At Seogwipo Intercity Bus Terminal,

Take a direct bus (Dongilju bus bound to Seongsan) and

get off at Seongsalliipgu bus stop. (Travel Time : 2 hours 30 mins)

At Seongsalliipgu bus stop, you will see Seongsan Ilchubong Peak

Seongsan Ilchulbong Peak or Sunrise Peak is a hydro-volcano that erupt upon a shallow seabed about 100,000 years ago. It is now the best spot on Jeju to see the rising sun.

If you don't want to climb the Peak you can also try the horse back riding.

We need to stop at this piont becasue we are not fit to climbed the top of the peak.
I guess we only reach 1/4 of the trail.

We had an amazing experience in Seongsan Ilchulbong Peak though we did not reached the top, we enjoyed and savour the scenic view, the wonders of nature and the moment that we are there.

Take airport limousine bus No. 500 at Jeju International Airport.

Get off at Grace Hotel. 3 minute walk.

Take a taxi. (Travel time 15-20 mins)

We came back from Seongsan Ilchulbong Peak just in time for our hotel check-in. The receptionist was very polite and friendly. He also have a little game for us and we won, the price was room upgrade and we are very happy.
